October Three Twenty Twelve

Today, the Pinoy netizens lost a voice. R.A. 10175 is now a law and it seems the heaven’s crying with us for losing our freedom of expression. #NoToCyberCrimeLaw

Stop Cyber Martial Law

Today, the Filipino netizens are up in arms  again to protest against a new law against cyber crime. RA No. 10175 or the anti-cyber crime law which prohibits a group or individual to commit crime via the internet, including libel is set to be enacted today by the Supreme Court and will immediately take effect tomorrow, October 3, 2012. This law irks us because it will curtail our freedom of speech which is against the Philippine Constitution. For you to better understand what the law is all about, here’s an article from Spot.ph, in summary it tells us 10 things (lifted again from Spot.ph) –

1. It only wants to hear nice things .

2. It champions the dead by asking the living to shut up.

3. It’s so “special” that it hurts.

4. It’s a time traveler.

5. It’s outdated.

6. It won’t like you liking what it doesn’t like.

7. It’s prudish.

8. It shits on wit.

9. It won’t play fair.

10. It’s got killer penalties.

Never again, we will be fooled by this. And those senators who voted for this law, we will make sure you will never make it on your next term.

Prayer Before The Crucifix

BEHOLD, O good and sweetest Jesus,
I cast myself upon my knees in Thy sight,
and with the most fervent desire of my soul
I pray and beseech Thee

to impress upon my heart
lively sentiments of faith,
hope and charity,
with true repentance for my sins
and a most firm desire of amendment:
whilst with deep affection and grief of soul
I consider within myself
and mentally contemplate Thy five most precious Wounds,
having before mine eyes that which David, the prophet,
long ago spoke in Thine own person concerning Thee,
my Jesus: “They have pierced My hands and My feet,
they have numbered all My bones.”

My Teacher My Hero

My Teacher My Hero, originally uploaded by margeeness.

This morning I went back to my grade school alma mater to fetch Our Lady of Pacita. I was reunited with teacher Benny, my grade 4 to 6 PE and scouting teacher and teacher Julie, my grade 5 Filipino teacher. Amazing how they haven’t aged a b
it since I left in 1992 and how after all these years, I would always address them as “teacher”.

The lady in brown is teacher Julie and beside him is teacher Benny ( the guy in white shirt).

I’ll Have Pizza On My Birthday!

Thank You, Yellow Cab!

Today, I received an advance treat for my birthday. Yellow Cab, a pizza chain here in the Philippines sent me a birthday e-greeting card. It comes with a free 10-inch pizza which I can claim on my birthday month. The catch though is that I have to spend a minimum of P750 worth of their goodies but for me that’s okay, maybe,  I’ll bring my friends there as my birthday treat to them. I am excited on my birthday because this year there are no fancy plans yet. I usually travel but given my financial situation right now, just having my family and friends around is enough for me to be thankful for another year. Maybe, on my next post I shall share with you my 33 lessons, wishes, and plans to celebrate my 33 years of awesome existence.

Our Tourist Guides

One of the most memorable trips that I had is when I went to El Nido, Palawan with my friend for a five-day R&R. After the five-hour trip from Puerto Princesa, my friend and I went for a quick shower and off we went to explore the beautiful islands of El Nido. By the way, if you saw The Bourne Legacy, the last frame of the movie is shot in El Nido. So, in El Nido, aside from fishing, touring the guests in the island is one of the sources of living of the people there. There are 5 different tours which the guests can avail of. In our case, we availed 4 of the 5 island tours because of the lack of time. Unlike Boracay where there is a nightlife, El Nido at night is quiet and laid-back. This is a perfect getaway for newly-weds looking for adventure. Hopefully, when I return to El Nido I am already with my significant other. Meanwhile, my next itinerary is in Coron, another  popular Palawan Island. By the way, I also arrange tours to Palawan, just leave me a note in the comments box if you have plans of visiting the El Nido.

Tuyo Con Mushroom Pasta

Tuyo Pasta

Today, I cooked another variant of pasta which I served to my friends, Eric and Arwil. They came over the house to fix my desktop PC and my laptop. With this pasta dish, I used tuyo flakes, a variety of dried fish sold in the Philippines, instead of the usual tuna flakes. I learned about this dish in a Youtube show sponsored by Nestle Club. It is so easy to prepare and cook. You just need to saute all the ingredients together, pour over your preferred cream (I used Cream of Mushroom), and then wait till all flavors have blended together. I suggest that you put a lot of garlic to balance the aroma and not be overpowered by the tuyo. I also made garlic and chili flakes as toppings aside from the grated cheese. If you want to try this pasta dish, here are the ingredients:

Tuyo con Mushroom Pasta

2 cloves of garlic, minced

3 onions, minced

8 pcs of dried fish, fried and flaked

1 small can of button mushrooms, sliced

1 medium can of cream of mushroom

500 grams spaghetti noodles, cooked as per instruction

grated cheese
